Andrew has been a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) since 2014, graduating from the 3000-hour Massage Therapy program at the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy (VCMT) in 2013. In addition to his RMT practice, Andrew is also a teaching assistant and clinic instructor at VCMT. Prior to becoming an RMT, Andrew worked in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and classroom instructor.
As a personal fitness trainer, Andrew worked with a large variety of participants from the professional athlete to the beginner exerciser, holding specializations in post-injury rehabilitation, sports conditioning, and clinical exercise. Transitioning into Massage Therapy in order to take a more hands-on approach to healing, health care and rehabilitation, Andrew takes his extensive fitness experience into his massage therapy practice, and incorporates a variety of manual techniques from general Swedish, myofascial release, cranio-sacral therapy, deep tissue therapy, trigger point therapy, joint mobility, and stretching techniques. Additionally, he draws from his 20+ years of experience in exercise prescription to provide his patients with personalized and effective homecare strategies in order to manage and optimize health.
Andrew encourages his clients to strive for balance and to develop good rituals in the pursuit of optimal health. In his practice, Andrew emphasizes educating his clients with the tools & strategies to help them manage and improve their overall wellbeing, whether it is reducing pain, recovering from an injury, decreasing stress, improving performance, or postural restoration.
