The Kinesio Taping Method is a therapeutic taping technique designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to injured muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion.

This type of taping also provides extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered by Evolve Wellness practitioners at our clinic in Kitsilano. Latex-free and wearable for days at a time, it’s safe for everyone from children to seniors.

Over the past few years, kinesio taping has gained momentum in treating various strains/sprains and joint injuries in professional sports and world events such as the Olympics. Specifically, the Kinesio Taping Method uses a patented tape with 140% elasticity, developed by the renowned chiropractor and acupuncturist Dr. Keno Kase, to support and stabilize joints and muscles while still allowing the body to move without restriction and enhancing circulation ( either through compression or decompression) to the affected area. In contrast, traditional sports medicine taping stabilizes the joint into a rigid position and inhibits circulation of body fluids.

In addition to KT tape, Evolve Wellness Centre uses Rock Tape and Spider-Tech brands when taping therapeutically.

“I sit at a desk staring at a computer most of the day, which plays havoc with my trapezius muscles. After one particularly painful spasm episode, my chiropractor taped me up. I couldn’t believe how quickly the pain alleviated. She also gave me a series of exercises for my upper back, which I do religiously. I can’t thank the team at Evolve enough.”
