Peter Wood is a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (DTCM) and Registered Acupuncturist (RAc) in practice since 2006. His specialties include asthma, allergies, skin conditions (particularly eczema) and musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation. He brings an integral approach to healing and healthcare.
He first became aware of the of idea of Qi — “life force” or “vital energy” — through participating in Qi-Gong, an ancient Chinese exercise and healing technique that involves meditation, controlled breathing and movement exercises.
His fascination with Qi led Dr. Wood to enroll in the five-year doctorate program at the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver. He completed his residency at the 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hefei, China.
Dr. Wood’s undergraduate degree in human kinetics complements his doctorate in TCM, and provides a strong foundation for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and for injury rehabilitation.
His focused training and post-graduate courses have further expanded his ability to successfully treat asthma, allergies and eczema.
Dr. Wood adds Shiatsu massage (a type of Japanese bodywork therapy) to his treatments to get a better sense of the state of the body, which adds diagnostic skills and treatment application.
In his spare time, Dr. Wood enjoys taking in the beautiful sights of Vancouver as if seen again for the first time through the eyes of his young son, Jake.
